Sin City, Neon City, City that never sleeps, Adult Disneyland, City of second chances.
Las Vegas has many nicknames for many reasons. This is my second trip here. Years ago I accomplished a couple of bucket list items including attending a NHL hockey game, seeing Hoover Dam, riding in a helicopter into the Grand Canyon. I’ve always had the desire to return. I like the energy of the town. I love the architecture of the buildings. The nostalgia of the old strip. I’m a DDD fan foodie and love to travel to places I’ve seen on tv. I used airline miles to book the flights, so I paid to upgrade to first class. I paid for one night at a casino and they comped 2 more nights.
I usually post on FB when I land without telling people prior where I am going. I made no plans for the first night. My surprise, a fraternity brother from college Charles had posted he was in LV for convention. We hooked up, hit Fremont Street, zip lining our way into an impromptu hell of a good time. Sometimes things happen for reason. Sometimes not having plans is the best plan.

I’m a believer that you do not have to “do” a bucket list item only once. There is always a way to “do” that item differently or just “do” them again cause it brought you joy. This time I chose to come back to a NHL hockey game. Geaux Knights Geaux! I had only wore the custom hokey jersey I bought once and felt bad about it just hanging in my closet. To “do” differently, I upgraded my seat to a club suite! Well worth it for free food, drinks, and amenities. I noticed a couple in row in front of me googling the rules of hockey. They had to move since they had “standing room only” tickets. I met them at intermission, introduced myself to Brian and his wife Gabi. I asked how many hockey games they had been at, of course this was their first. Brian said he was misled about the tickets and this was par for the bad overall experience they have had here on this trip. I offered my seat and the vacant seat that was next to me. He declined. I insisted. Told him I needed to stand and stretch my legs. They finally accepted. I found the guy that I was sitting next to who I had shared a laugh or two and told him the story. I asked him to make sure they have fun, he’s bought in and on it. They got to see the Knights score two goals. Awesome! Believe it or not, there is still good people who do good things for the no reason but the right reasons. I try when I can. I’m not looking for acknowledgment of a good deed by telling this story. I’m hoping to inspire others to do the same.

Today I checked off a bucket list item – I rented a Corvette Stingray and drove 350 miles and various speeds site seeing. This car is amazing. The acceleration is unbelievable. The views with the roof removed perfect for site seeing. I also found a DDD food joint, damn good bbq. Hit triple digits couple times but lot of easy cruising speeds too. If you are going to rent a car, get something fun. I explored Lake Mead, Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam at dusk, and Vegas during day and at night. I took so many pictures but can’t post them all here. Memories for life.

Tomorrow I get on a plane and go back to reality. Tonight as I sit sipping something cold playing video poker I write this reflecting on this trip. I had a blast. Looking forward to next adventure.
City of Second Chances. I think that’s the nickname I like the most. Makes me wonder…how many second chances do we get?
